Ross County produced a fine display to knock holders St Johnstone out of the Challenge Cup in the first round.
David Winters forced the ball home from close range after 53 minutes for the side returning to Division One.
County, who won the Challenge Cup two seasons ago, went further ahead 12 minutes later through Sean Higgins.
Saints, among the favourites for the First Division title, pulled one back through Collin Samuel on the striker's competitive debut for the Perth side.
