Match Report

Source unknown.

The 10 men of Ross County grabbed all three points in a dramatic finish as they beat Kilmarnock 1-0 in the dying embers of the match writes Scott Gunn.

Despite Ross Callachan's red card with less than ten minutes to play, up stepped Owura to smash home an effort with three minutes to spare in a dramatic climax in Dingwall that hands County their first points of the campaign.

Malky Mackay made two changes from the one that lost at St Mirren as Owura Edwards and Dominic Samuel were replaced by Kazeem Olaigbe and Yan Dhanda in the starting XI.

The first chance of the match came from Kazeem Olaigbe for County as he saw his low effort shot saved by Walker in the 10th minute.

County dominated the possession early on with the home side seeing most of the ball with some quick tempo passing and direct runs at the Killie back-line.

The first corner of the match went to Kilmarnock in the 18th minute which Kyle Lafferty put wide for a goal kick. The resulting goal kick led to a chance for the Staggies with County showing a real turn of pace in their counter-attack.

Shouts for a penalty followed as Josh Sims was taken down in the box in the 25th minute with the referee dismissing any calls, Kilmarnock went down the pitch straight away to find a sight of goal but safe hands from County keeper Ross Laidlaw saw him catch the effort with ease.

Callachan went into the refs' book as the first of numerous yellows of the match were shown on the 38th minute after his challenge on Kilmarnock's Alebiosu was deemed sufficient of the punishment. Tempers continued to flair as Kyle Lafferty fouled Baldwin from the resulting free-kick, which saw the striker get booked on the 40th minute.

Half-Time: Ross County 0-0 Kilmarnock

No changes at half time for Malky Mackay's men but Derek Mcinnes had Lafferty replaced by Innes Cameron.

Kilmarnock started the second half quickly with the fresh legs of Cameron seeing his first time effort go over the bar.

The 60th minute saw the introduction of Owura Edwards and Jordan White as they replaced Josh Sims and Kazeem Olaigbe on the hour mark.

Baldwin went into the book after a challenge on Kerr McInroy in the 65th on the halfway line, which some of a Killie persuassion felt could have seen a harsher sentence.

Kilmarnock won a corner in the 68th minute as they continued to dominate possession in the second half which resulted in nothing as both sides showed little threat on goal.

Some quick feet from Owura on the wing created space for Dhanda to deliver a cross into the box which saw White connect but a crucial touch from a defender saw it out for a cornerr, County continued to create chances for themselves as they tried to score the first goal of the match.

Edwards continued to create havoc down the line as County tried to break on the 71st minute with another cross whipped into the box, this time seeing Callachan's low header being saved by an outstretched Walker.

The 76th minute saw Kilmarnock's second change of the match as striker Oli Shaw was replaced by Deji Sotona whose first real involvement in the match resulted in David Cancola going into the book for taking down the former, as Kilmarnock tried to break away quickly.

Ross Callachan saw his second booking of the match and was consequently sent off for handling the ball in the 84th minute on the edge of the Kilmarnock box with little protest from the Staggies midfielder.

Yan was subbed off for Keith Watson as County looked to protect their point, however in 88th minute Owura latched onto a loose ball in the Kilmarnock box as his strike was too powerful for Sam Walker to get a hand to.

A minimum of 4 minutes were added onto the match, as Kilmarnock continued to pile the pressure on, successive corners for Killie were not enough for them however as County got all three points.
